What is the Honeymoon Registry?

Instead of a ‘place setting for the table’, you can receive a romantic honeymoon as a wedding gift.  The Gift of Travel – Honeymoon Registry is a AAA service, allowing you to register your honeymoon vacation online so that your friends and family can contribute in $25, $50, $100 and $500 amounts to the cost of your honeymoon vacation as a wedding gift!  You also receive free announcement cards which you may send to your wedding guests giving information about your registered honeymoon.

Why select AAA Travel as your Honeymoon planner?

AAA Travel understands that your honeymoon vacation is the most important and precious trip you will take together.  With over 100 years of trusted experience and honeymoon specialists dedicated and trained to help you make the best travel choice for your budget, we take the worry out of planning with personalized service before, during and after the trip.  Because we are the largest vacation travel agency group in the U.S.A, we bring you unparalleled value and many exclusive AAA member benefits with the finest group of travel providers available.

How far in advance should I start my Honeymoon planning?

Once you set your wedding date, it’s time to begin planning your honeymoon.  We suggest planning at least six to eight

months ahead so that the most desired honeymoon destinations and resorts are available.

How do we set up our honeymoon registry?

First, you need to make your honeymoon travel package arrangements with a AAA Travel Honeymoon Specialist and secure your travel reservation with a deposit which usually includes the air cost in full, travel insurance, and $150-$400 per person to the trip package provider. Each deposit requirement will differ depending on the nature of your honeymoon and the requirements of the providers. To participate in the registry program, your total trip package value must be at least $1,000; you may not use the registry program for airline tickets only.

After all of your travel arrangements are secured with a deposit, it’s time to set up your Honeymoon Registry online

by filling out the simple online form and submitting your picture and personal message.  We will put your registry page together and submit it to you for your approval so that it is just right.  Once approved, it will be listed on the registry

so friends and family can make contributions.

How can my friends and family make a contribution to my honeymoon registry?

Your friends and family are able contribute in three ways:  1) Make a contribution with a major credit card/debit card using the online form; 2) Make a contribution via the telephone to one of our travel agents; 3) Mail contributions to our headquarters office.

How do we notify our guests about this honeymoon registry and wedding website?

AAA Travel will provide FREE, printable announcements for you to distribute to your friends and family letting them know about your honeymoon registry.   AAA Travel can also email your honeymoon registry announcement to your guests with a selected email address list you provide.

You will be most successful if you get everyone involved. The bridal party and family can help you spread the news about your honeymoon registry to your guests and its special importance.  You might include information about your registry with engagement announcements and bridal shower invitations.

What happens if the guests’ contributions do not cover the total cost of the trip?

Your honeymoon travel ‘final payment’ is usually due 60-90 days prior to your departure date.  At this time, we deduct all guest contributions received, and give you the remaining balance required to complete the full and final payment.   The bride and groom are responsible for the remaining balance; therefore, we recommend that you select a honeymoon within a budget you can handle.

What happens if the guests’ contributions exceed the cost of the top?

If your guests’ contributions exceed the total cost of your trip, you can add activities, more days, or upgrade your accommodations.  You may also apply the additional monies toward a AAA Travel gift certificate that will be good for future travel.

What happens if my wedding or honeymoon is cancelled or postponed?

Please be reminded that depending upon how close you are to your honeymoon departure date, some of all of your payments are not refundable.  If the need arises, we will work with you to change your dates and/or recoup any refunds possible.  Any remaining funds will be sent to you, and after that, it is your responsibility to return any contributions to your guests you deem appropriate.

Is it wise to purchase travel cancellation insurance protection?

AAA strongly recommends the purchase of travel insurance, which includes travel cancellation protection.  While we don’t like to think about it, the unforeseen can happen which could result in a cancellation of your precious vacation, resulting in supplier cancellation penalties.  Travel insurance buys you peace-of-mind.
