For quick cost cutting on your next car rental, try this:

Go off-site.  Renting from airport car rental facilities is often more expensive.  Check out nonairport locations to see if you can save on rental rates. 

Go on-line.  Check out rental rates on sites such as Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, BookingBuddy, CarRentals.com, and Vroom Vroom Vroom for the lowest rates by city or airport location.  Be sure to compare all-in costs including taxes and fees.  You can also go directly to rental car web sites to look for deals. Online specials may be lower than booking your car rental over the phone.

Use your membership discounts.  Do you belong to AAA, AARP, or Costco?  These and frequent flyer memberships or other entertainment coupons may be a great way to save some money on car rentals.

Be flexible.  If you can travel over a weekend, rental rates are often lower than during the week.  If you're traveling for less than a week, check out the weekly rental rate to make sure it's not a better deal than paying the daily rate.
