Terms of Use:
With the recent number of high-profile security breaches, there
is a growing concern that thieves have never had easier access to our personal
information than they do today. To protect your credit card information
when making purchases online, MasterCard and VISA have developed extra security
measures to give you more peace of mind.
MasterCard
SecureCode is a service from MasterCard that provides added security when you
shop online and use your MasterCard. SecureCode protects you from
unauthorized use of your enrolled card by prompting you at checkout to provide
the SecureCode you created when registering your card. Your SecureCode is
quickly confirmed by your financial institution prior to completing your
purchase. This extra layer of protection guards against unauthorized use
of your card account number, since a SecureCode will also be required.
You can activate this security feature by visiting www.mastercardsecurecode.com
and the protection will begin immediately when you shop online at participating
merchants. You'll find additional information and an online demonstration
of this new security feature.
Like the MasterCard SecureCode, Verified by Visa makes online shopping safer with this added protection
when making purchases online with your Visa card.
Verified
by Visa protects your Visa card with a personal message and password,
giving you reassurance that only you can use your card online. You can activate
this security feature by visiting www.verifiedbyvisa.com and the protection will begin immediately. If you
prefer, you
can wait until you make an online purchase at a merchant displaying the
Verified by Visa logo, and you'll be prompted to activate the feature at that
time. Once your card is registered, your card number will be recognized whenever
you make a purchase at participating online stores. You'll be able to enter your
password, your identity will be verified, and the transaction will be completed.
Your cards will continue to work as usual and be protected by the standard
fraud measures at online stores not yet participating in the Verified by Visa
program.
As a MasterCard or Visa cardholder you are not liable in the event of an
unauthorized use of your card. This coverage extends to purchases made in a
store, over the telephone, or online.
If you suspect unauthorized activity on your account, stop using your card and
contact the financial institution that issued your MasterCard or Visa card as
soon as possible.
