 There are several reasons why this message can appear.  If this is a new install please make sure that you completed all the steps outlined in the installation guides.  Below is a list of some commonly found errors:

1. Shipping bracket/lock wasn’t removed or unlocked.

2. Scanner wasn’t turned on or turned on prior to booting the host PC.

3. Scanner SCSI/USB cable was not properly secured to the PC or scanner.

4. Bent pins or defective SCSI cable.

5. ISIS or Twain driver not installed or selected.

6. Non Fujitsu driver selected.

7. ASPI manager is either missing or not properly installed.

8. Scanner SCSI id set to zero or seven.

9. Scanner connected to parallel port instead of SCSI controller.

10. SCSI controller IRQ conflict.

11. SCSI controller IRQ out of range of controller (Virtual IRQ).

12. Failure to complete hardware installation wizard.

13. Failure to reset scanner after an error condition.

14. Hardware failure.

15. Using a SCSI to USB exchange cable on a non USB scanner (Not supported).
