Gregory R. Kroetch memorial golf tournament
SPOKANE, Wash. – The first annual Gregory R. Kroetch memorial golf tournament will be held on September 4
th, 2011 at Downriver golf course, with all proceeds going to “Safety Net”, a Spokane based charity. Madison McHenry-Kroetch, Gregory R. Kroetch’s granddaughter, is creating this tournament in her grandfather’s name for anyone who wants to remember him or just likes to play golf. Global Credit Union is sponsoring a hole in the tournament as well as a team, Reliant Rx is sponsoring teams, and friends/family from all over are coming to support the tournament. Many prizes have been donated for Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, and a raffle during the tournament.
Funds raised will go to “Safety Net” for foster kids after they turn 18 and need things to get them through the transitional phase from High School to College.
“My grandfather was an adamant golfer since the time he was a little boy and he would just want everyone to have fun while playing the game,” McHenry-Kroetch explains, “He was a very giving person, and always wanted the best for the people around him, that is why I chose to give the proceeds to “Safety Net”.”
McHenry-Kroetch is creating the memorial golf tournament for her Senior Project at North Central High School, as a way to remember her grandpa.
“Safety Net” is based in Spokane and supports foster kids around the area. Foster kids need a “Safety Net” to help them financially through the hard time when they age out of the foster care system at 18. Finding themselves suddenly on their own, they need basic living staples to get them through the transitional phase from High School to College.
“It helps them progress in their education and develop job and life skills to help them be self-sufficient and support themselves,” McHenry-Kroetch concludes. To learn more about Safety Net, visit
