I get a black screen on launching the game/the game crashes back to the Windows desktop on launch.
First and most importantly, ensure your PC meets the minimum system requirements to run the game. To do this use this PC Game System Requirements Q&A Search link which will display a list of all supported PC titles Minimum System Requirements. For more general information on a title you can select your game from Category 2 (then click "GO") to display all knowledge items for that game.
Ensure the game has access to the internet through any firewall software you are using. You can also temporarily disable your firewall software to overcome this problem.
I receive an error message after the Checking Disc screen.
- Please click the Information button, then View Report.
- Save the error report onto your desktop (as a .txt file).
- Please also run a DirectX® diagnostic report (instructions)
- Once you have an error report and a dxdiag.txt file saved to your desktop, visit our support website and use the Ask a Question page to open a support ticket. At the bottom of the question section you will see three "Browse" buttons. You may use these buttons to locate and attach the requested files to your incident (dxdiag.txt, error file generated, or a screen shot).
Once we receive your error report and dxdiag.txt we will be in contact to assist with your concern.
I get an error message <generic>.
Try searching our knowledge base using a few words or number codes from the error message itself. Many error messages and solutions are already documented in the online knowledge base.
