As with all PC titles, the first and most important step is to ensure your PC meets the minimum system requirements to run the game.  To do this use this PC Game System Requirements Q&A Search link which will display a list of all supported PC titles Minimum System Requirements.

This website < www.srtest.com > will run a system check for you to determine whether your hardware is sufficient to play a particular game.  This is not a Midway site or service, however, the information is often helpful in pinpointing any deficiencies with your current computer hardware.

For more general information on a title you can select your game title from Category 2 (then click "GO") on the Q&A Search page to display all knowledge items for that game.

1. If AVG anti-virus software is installed, it needs to be uninstalled. This program causes resource conflicts with drivers. Be sure to restart the system after removing AVG.

2. In UTGame/Config/UTEngine.ini, set bInitializeShadersOnDemand=True.

3. Run the game again.

·         Some issues with ATI graphics cards cause the game to stop: To run Unreal Tournament 3 for Radeon 9x00 cards, we recommend installing the ATI Catalyst driver revision 7.8 from the www.amd.com website. If you do not install the revision 7.8 driver from the website, at some point the game might stop and your progress will be lost. For newer cards we recommend installing ATI Catalyst driver revision 7.9.

If you do not install this driver or the latest driver from the website, at some point the game will stop and your progress will be lost.

·         Audio stops at game start in Windows Vista: When the game is started on certain computers running Windows Vista, the audio stops. To fix this problem, install the latest driver for your sound card.

·         Audio occasionally crashes on startup in Windows Vista: In case of audio/hardware/driver issues, please run the game with –nosound in the command line to determine if your audio drivers are causing the crash. If the game does not crash with the –nosound command, please upgrade your audio drivers.

·         The Unreal Tournament 3 does not support more than 2 channel audio on cards without OpenAL drivers: The game only outputs 5.1 if the “Hardware OpenAL” checkbox is ticked and the sound card has OpenAL drivers. Note: There is currently an issue with checking the "Hardware OpenAL checkbox and the X-Fi Sound Blaster cards.  We are currently working on this issue.

·         Audio during the campaign mission objective screens may occasionally cut out: This is during the campaign mission loading screens and is only on certain PC models.
