Question/Topic
Adult Dependents: Different from student dependents?
Answer/Article

Yes, adult dependents are different from student dependents. The main differences are:

  • Adult dependents do not have to be students.
  • Students can be covered until they turn 24. Adult dependents can be covered until they turn 25.
  • You must pay the full cost of the adult dependent's premium for health plan coverage. There is no employer contribution provided for adult dependents, as there is for other dependents.
  • Adult dependents may be enrolled even if the employee has waived coverage or the retiree has deferred enrollment.

Rates for Adult Dependents are found on the back of the Adult Dependent Enrollment/Change form.
