Question/Topic
What is a Medicare Advantage plan?
Answer/Article

These plans are only available to Medicare retirees through Group Health Cooperative, Kaiser Permanente, and PacifiCare SecureHorizons. You may choose a value plan or a classic plan, if they available in your county. However, if these medical plans offer both managed-care plans and Medicare Advantage plan in the same county and you are enrolled in Part A and Part B of Medicare, they will require you to enroll in the Medicare Advantage plan.

These plans contract with Medicare to provide all Medicare-covered benefits; however, most also cover the deductibles, coinsurance, and additional benefits not covered by Medicare. Please review the plan benefits comparison for more information.

Note: If you or your spouse have end-stage renal disease or receive routine kidney dialysis, you are not eligible to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan.
