We accept a person’s self-identification of his or her gender. If someone reports they are a certain sex, then that is how we will record it in our records.
However, transgender individuals will have medical needs related to their birth sex even after transitioning to a different gender. If a person wishes to enroll as their birth sex in order to receive appropriate health services (such as pap smears or prostate screening), we will enroll that person under the gender he or she chooses.
How a person lists his or her gender on the enrollment/change form will not affect eligibility as a state-registered domestic partner.
