UMP covers mastectomy as treatment for disease, illness, or injury, as well as:
- Reconstruction of the breast on which the mastectomy was performed.
- Surgery and reconstruction of the other breast to produce a symmetrical appearance.
- Prostheses.
- Physical complications of all stages of the mastectomy.
UMP may cover the services listed above even when not associated with a mastectomy. However, UMP will not pay for these services if related to a procedure (such as a cosmetic procedure) that UMP does not cover.
