Question/Topic
How does UMP cover genetic counseling and testing services?
Answer/Article

The plan covers services provided by certified genetic counselors. Your provider must refer you to a genetic counselor. Except for genetic screening done during pregnancy, you must receive preauthorization from UMP for all genetic testing services.

UMP does not cover genetic services for family planning purposes, except for screening for cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, or Tay-Sachs disease.
