UMP's list of covered prescription drugs (sometimes called a "formulary") is called the Washington State Rx Services Preferred Drug List (PDL). By looking at the PDL, you can find out:
The PDL is updated online weekly. However, a drug may change tier or the ancillary charge may apply at any time, in particular when a generic equivalent becomes available. You can look up your prescription drugs by checking the online PDL or by calling Washington State Rx Services at 1-888-361-1611.
ALERT! When a generic equivalent for a brand-name drug becomes available, the brand-name drug immediately becomes Tier 3 with an ancillary charge. Always ask your doctor to allow substitution on your prescriptions to save you money.
Please note that certain drugs are not covered even when prescribed by your provider. In addition, if you get certain nonpreferred drugs, the pharmacist can switch the nonpreferred drug for an equivalent preferred drug through the Therapeutic Interchange Program.
For more information on the prescription drug benefit, including what you'll pay for prescription drugs, see the UMP Prescription Drug Information pages.
