Question/Topic
How does UMP cover hospice care (including respite care)?
Answer/Article

You must receive preauthorization from UMP to receive coverage for hospice services. Preauthorized services received from network providers are covered at 100% of the allowed amount.

UMP covers hospice care for terminally ill enrollees for up to six months. Services must be part of a written plan of care developed by a state-licensed or Medicare-approved hospice.

Respite Care

Respite care is continuous care of more than four hours a day to give family members temporary relief from caring for a homebound hospice patient. The plan covers services at 100% once your deductible is met, up to a $5,000 lifetime limit.
