You must receive preauthorization from UMP and enroll in UMP’s case management program to receive coverage for hospice services. Preauthorized services received from network providers are covered at 100% of the UMP allowed amount.

UMP covers hospice care for terminally ill enrollees for up to six months. Services must be part of a written plan of care developed by a state-licensed or Medicare-approved hospice.

Respite care is covered up to a $5,000 lifetime maximum and is covered only when preauthorized for a patient in UMP’s case management program who is receiving hospice care. Respite care is defined as continuous care of more than four hours a day to give family members temporary relief from caring for the patient in hospice.
