Question/Topic
How should a provider bill for services that are covered by UMP but not by Medicare?
Answer/Article

The following services are not covered by Medicare Part A or Medicare Part B. Please bill UMP directly for these services; do not submit a claim to Medicare. Section references indicate billing instructions included elsewhere in this manual:

See Section 6.2 “Coordination of Benefits” in the UMP Billing & Administrative Manual for Professional Providers for more information about billing when UMP is secondary. If you have any questions about submitting claims to UMP, please call UMP Provider Services at 1-800-464-0967.

The Certificate of Coverage (COC) is the source of coverage provisions offered under UMP. If information given here is inconsistent with the UMP COC, the rules in the COC will apply. Also, the COC may have additional information on this subject.
