Question/Topic
UMP Covers Seasonal Flu and Swine Flu Vaccines
Answer/Article

Why Get A Seasonal Flu Vaccine?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the single best way to prevent getting and spreading seasonal flu is to get vaccinated each fall. All UMP members who would like a seasonal flu shot are encouraged to get one in the 2009-2010 flu season. Washing hands regularly, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home when you are sick are always good practices for preventing the spread of illnesses.

Guidelines for Coverage of Flu Vaccines

UMP follows current CDC guidelines for coverage of all flu vaccines. Please see the CDC website, as these recommendations are updated frequently.

Where Can I Get a Seasonal Flu Vaccine?

You can get a flu vaccine anywhere you choose. Many pharmacies that offer flu shots can bill UMP directly so you won't have to pay anything up front.

If the flu shot provider can't bill UMP directly, you can pay for it yourself, and then submit a payment receipt and completed copy of the Flu Vaccine Claim Form PDF for reimbursement.

Do I need to get a vaccine for H1N1?

UMP will cover the H1N1-novel (swine flu) vaccine at 100% following the CDC guidelines for who should receive the H1N1-novel (swine flu) vaccine.
