What's Changing for Uniform Medical Plan in 2010?

Benefit Changes

  • No limit on number of visits for outpatient mental health services.
  • No dollar limit on chemical dependency treatment.
  • Orthotics will not be covered in 2010.

Member Cost-Sharing for 2010

Medical Services
  2009 2010
Member coinsurance for network providers 10% 15%
Medical deductible $200 per person, $600 maximum for a family of three or more $250 per person, $750 maximum for a family of three or more
Out-of-pocket limit $1,500 per person, $3,000 maximum for a family of three or more $2,000 per person, $4,000 maximum for a family of three or more

Changes in cost sharing and premiums are a result of the state budget crisis and increases in medical inflation.

Member Premiums

Some UMP member premiums will be increasing in 2010; some will be decreasing. Please see the PEBB website at www.pebb.hca.wa.gov for specific premiums.

Prescription Drug Benefit Not Changing

The prescription drug deductible and coinsurance (retail) or copay (mail order) amounts for each tier are staying the same in 2010. Washington State Rx Services will continue as the pharmacy benefit manager for UMP. Keep in mind, though, that the Preferred Drug List is subject to change.

The Certificate of Coverage (COC) is the source of coverage provisions offered under UMP. If information given here is inconsistent with the UMP COC, the rules in the COC will apply. Also, the COC may have additional information on this subject.
