What is Verity doing to protect my credit card account from fraudulent charges?

Verity has partnered with Certegy, a company that specializes in debit and credit card processing, billing and statements. Certegy's Card Member Security department has just implemented an automated system. The automated system will ask you (the member cardholder) to verify your name and the last four digits of your Social Security number. You will then be asked to verify certain authorizations on your Debit or Credit card.

When suspicious activity is detected, Certegy contacts you (the member/card holder) to determine if the activity was authorized or may be the result of fraud.

In the past few years, the card industry has experienced a growing trend in account compromise and other fraud that is changing the dynamics of fraud detection and monitoring. As a result, we have seen the number of cases increase by over 200% over the past five years. With this dramatic increase in volume, Certegy continues to pursue automation solutions and technology changes that will help mitigate rising costs while maximizing the effectiveness of Falcon monitoring.

To that end, Certegy has implemented automated outbound dialing. In some cases, Verity will utilize an automated dialing system to contact cardholders when fraud cases are generated. The automated system will verify the transactions with the cardholder. If a cardholder is unavailable, a message will be left for the cardholder asking them to contact us to verify recent activity on their card account. This will allow us to keep pace with the growing number of cases generated and improve the percent of successful cardholder contacts.

Certegy's Card Member Security is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, effective July 1,2005.
