I received a call from an automated system asking to verify my last name and last four of my Social Security Number. Is this a scam or a legitimate phone call?

Verity has partnered with Certegy, a company that specializes in debit and credit card processing, billing and statements. Certegy's Card Member Security department has an automated system for verifying suspicious authorizations on debit and credit cards. The automated system will ask you (the member cardholder) to verify your name and the last four digits of your Social Security number. You will then be asked to verify certain authorizations on your Debit or Credit card.

If you are not available, a message will be left instructing you to call 1-800-437-9392. This phone number will connect you to the automated system. You will be asked to enter the phone number where you received the message and the last four of your Social Security number. After that, you will be asked to verify the authorizations in question.

Please be assured that this is a legitimate phone call and not a scam. If you do not want to call, Verity staff can make the call for you. Just call Member Services at (206) 440-9000 or (800) 444-4589.

If you do go out of town or out of the country for an extended amount of time, please call Member Services and let us know. We will note this on your debit and credit account which will help minimize the chances that your vacation purchases are not considered fraudulent by the fraud prevention system.
