Question/Topic
Is the login on the homepage secure? Why don't I see a padlock icon in my browser or https in the address?
Answer/Article
It is true that sites that are encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) can typically be identified by looking for the browser padlock icon or https in the address.  The main content of our public website is not encrypted with SSL, but the login at the top of each page is.  That portion is contained within an inline frame, or iFrame, that is loaded from our SSL-secured servers.

Internet Explorer Users:
You can see this by right-clicking on the Login button and choosing Properties.  A Properties dialog box will appear that shows the address of that frame is the secure https://wpcuonline.com address that you are used to seeing for our online banking site.  You can click the Certificates button to view our SSL certificate.

Firefox Users:
You can see this by right-clicking on the Login button and choosing This Frame -> Frame Info.  A Frame Info screen will appear that shows the address of that frame is the secure https://wpcuonline.com address that you are used to seeing for our online banking site.

Once you login using the secure iFrame, your main browser window will be redirected to our secure online banking site, where you will see the padlock browser icon and https in the address.

If you feel more comfortable seeing the padlock and the https before logging in, you may continue to use our previous home banking login page at https://wpcuonline.com/homebanking.
