Question/Topic
In what order do checks clear my account?
Answer/Article

WPCU is an online institution. Checks could clear at anytime that WPCU is open for business.

Paper checks and/or Check 21 Substitute checks submitted for payment are normally received via a File transmission which is sorted in check number order and posted.

Funds must be available in the checking account (not on hold) at the time that the check is presented to prevent a Non Sufficient Funds Fee (NSF), a Transfer Fee, or activation of the overdraft loan such as the Line of Credit or ReadyLine.

Paper checks that are converted to an electronic ACH debit are processed when received from the Federal Reserve files.

On Hold means that the balance may show the deposited amount, but a check hold was placed on those funds making them unavailable to use to clear checks or debits. Holds vary depending on the kind of check, amount of the check, account relationship with WPCU and where deposited. Funds deposited via an ATM automatically go on hold. See ATM funds availability policy in link below. Checks deposited with a teller at a WPCU member center will show the release dates if the funds are on hold.
