WSECU would never ask you to verify your identity or your card number online.
What is 'Phishing'?
Phishing attacks are usually fraudulent e-mails aimed at stealing consumers' personal identity data and financial account credentials. “Spoofed” e-mails often lead consumers to counterfeit websites designed to trick recipients into giving away their important financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames, passwords and Social Security numbers. Hijacking brand names of banks, retailers and credit card companies, phishers can trick consumers to respond to the email. For more information on how to protect yourself, click here.
For a detailed list of phishing attempts against members and non-members purporting to be from WSECU please click here.
If you have any questions about the authenticity of an email asking for account information, contact WSECU before acting. Please note: reporting false credit union email as “spam” to your service provider may lead to the blocking of legitimate WSECU email communication to you. Instead, please forward any phishing attempts to: fraud@wsecu.org.
