It’s a story that begins more than 50 years ago, when a small group of state employees joined together to form Washington State Employees Credit Union. They wanted to create a financial institution that worked for them, not for shareholders. WSECU’s first office was just a small room above a bowling alley one block from the state capitol and the state employees WSECU would come to serve in greater and greater numbers over time.
This spring, WSECU breaks ground on our third headquarters building and new flagship branch, a sign of the enormous success of more than 50 years of member service and the strength of the not-for-profit credit union model.
We’re growing our credit union campus to serve you better. The redesigned campus will improve information technology capacity, so critically important in the digital age. It’s cost-effective, saving members money over time by reducing our current need to lease office space throughout the region. The new HQ2 building will be point of pride for members and the greater Olympia area, built with a commitment to quality, LEEDs environmental standards and a reflection of our strong association with public employees. A signature new flagship branch will anchor the expanded campus and allow us to serve you better by expanding space, privacy and access.
The new building and an accompanying parking structure are estimated for completion in late summer, 2009.
