Advantis is doing a lot behind the scenes to help keep your accounts safe. Here are a few things you can do to protect yourself from account fraud:
  • Check your credit report for accuracy each year. Use and check your report with all three bureaus.
  • Use a pass-phrase of at least 15 characters to keep your online banking password secure.
  • Secure your smart phone with a screen PIN or passcode.
  • Don't save usernames or passwords in Internet browsers.
  • Don't share your debt and credit card numbers and PINs.
  • Log in to Online Banking and review your account activity every week.
  • Sign up for eStatements and review your statements every month.
  • Don't give out any financial information over the phone, unless you called the person/business you are talking to.
  • Don't include any financial information in emails unless you are sure the emails are being sent securely.
  • When shopping online, only use reputable sites that protect your information with secure servers (meaning a URL that begins with https:// - if it doesn't have the "s," it isn't secure).
  • Add account alerts to your accounts so you will be notified if your balance changes significantly or if there is unexpected activity.
  • Use a shredder to destroy all personal, financial, and medical information before it goes in the trash or recycling.
If you suspect or experience account fraud, report it to Advantis immediately. Please email us or call us at (503)785-2528.
