Using AmeriCU Smart Deposit

To deposit a check:
  • Endorse the back of the check as you normally would.
    • For name changes due to marriage or divorce: The check must be endorsed with the name shown on the check and the new name should then be signed underneath that endorsement. Please note that your marriage certificate or divorce decree must be on file with us.
  • Log in and tap "Deposit Checks" (iPhone/iPad Users) or "Deposits" (Android Phone Users).
  • First-time users will see the AmeriCU Smart Deposit Service Agreement. You must accept the agreement to use AmeriCU Smart Deposit.
  • Tap the "To" field to select the account for the deposit.
  • Tap "Amount" to enter the check amount.
  • Tap the camera icon to take a photo of the front of the check.
  • Tap the camera icon again to take a photo of the back of the check.
  • Tap "Deposit."
  • The "Success" screen lets you know that AmeriCU has received your deposit.

You may not see your deposit post immediately to your account if there was difficulty in automatically recognizing important features of the check (e.g. account number, routing number, etc.). An AmeriCU representative will review the deposit by the next business day. In these cases, you will receive an email once the deposit has been accepted or declined.

Keep your check for 90 days as a reference.

Photo-Taking Tips

Take photos in a well-lit area on a surface that contrasts with the check.

Be sure only the check is in the photo (i.e. no fingers or other items that may be on the same surface).

Make sure the whole check is inside the guidelines. Leave a small amount of space between the guidelines and the edges of the check.

Give the camera time to focus before taking the photo. You can also tap the center of your screen to get a clear picture.
