  • 8. Why don't all ATMs accept deposits? Views: 5 Public
ATMs that accept deposits are considerably more expensive to purchase and maintain than those which simply dispense cash. ATMs that accept deposits must be emptied daily to ensure that the deposits are credited in a timely manner. Cash dispensing machines do not need to be serviced daily and therefore require much lower operating costs than the depository machines. ATMs that accept deposits are selectively placed at locations based on branch proximity and membership concentration.
