This is a helpful report to run to see the overall knowledge base structure and usage of topics.  You can choose to see usage by Group, too, which in turn helps you determine the appropriate Fast Path buttons for a Group's Home Pages (see related links).  

By default, the report includes:  Topic, Rank, Total Items, Total Views, Public Items, Views By External Users, Private Items, and Views By Internal Users

In addition, the "Select Fields" link lets you choose which fields to show in the report.  It includes those listed above as well as Views by Selected Group, Items Added, Draft Items and Total Items Including Subtopics

You have two choices when running the report.  You can produce an HTML version or export.  You can also schedule to have the report run at whatever frequency you want, then it will be emailed to you automatically.  

Here is a breakdown of the fields and how they are calculated:

Topic: This is the topic for the row of information displayed. Top level topics are in bold with subtopics indented underneath in non-bold font.  If a knowledge item is in multiple topics, its primary topic will be the one included in this report.  

Rank: The most viewed topics are ranked in order beginning with 1 (most viewed).  When there is a tie, the number is shown repeated.  

Total Items: The total number of items that existed in the knowledge base before the ending date entered that are currently in one of the following statuses:

• Private
• Public
• Nominated - items in the approval queue awaiting publishing
• Draft - items saved in draft status but unpublished
• Approve
• Limited Private
• Limited Public

Total Views: The total number of views not generated by bots (defined in System Options) that occurred within the date range entered on knowledge items that are currently in one of the above statuses. 

Public Items: The total number of knowledge items that are currently in either public or limited public status and whose create date is before the To Date of the entered date range.

Views By External Users: The total number of knowledge base views by external users (both registered and not) that took place within the date range entered.

Private Items: The total number of knowledge items that are currently of either private or limited private status and whose create date is before the To Date of the date range entered.

Views By Internal Users: The total number of knowledge base views by internal users that took place within the date range entered.

Views By Selected Group: When you choose from the dropdown of Groups, you'll see views by members of that Group within the date range entered included in the report.

Items Added:  The total number of knowledge items that were created within the date range entered and whose current status is one of the following:

• Private
• Public
• Limited Private
• Limited Public

Draft Items: The total number of knowledge items whose create date is before the To Date of the date range entered and whose current status is one of the following:

• Nominated
• Draft
• Approve

Total Items including Subtopics: The total number of knowledge items whose primary topic is either the row topic (or a subtopic) whose create date is before the ending date entered and whose current status is one of the following:

• Private
• Public
• Nominated
• Draft
• Approve
• Limited Private
• Limited Public
