The core principle of COBRA is continuity. You are entitled to the same benefits, providers, and plan choices as if you were still an active member of the team.

Medical & Surgical Includes all hospital stays, doctor visits, and emergency care.
Prescription Drugs Your pharmacy benefits and copay structures remain identical.
Dental & Vision If these were part of your original plan, they must be offered.
Mental Health Full access to behavioral health and therapy services is protected.

Exclusions: What COBRA Does Not Cover

COBRA is strictly for health-related benefits. It does not extend to life insurance, disability income, or non-health perks like gym memberships or commuter benefits.

Note: If your former employer goes out of business or stops offering health insurance to all employees, your COBRA rights typically end immediately, as there is no longer a "group plan" to join.
