Important Information About Debit Card Overdraft Services

As your not-for-profit financial cooperative, Redwood Credit Union is committed to providing you with personalized options and solutions to meet your financial needs. As a service to you, RCU may authorize and pay your overdrafts on debit card transactions—including everyday debit card transactions such as purchasing groceries, dining out or buying a tank of gas—when there are insufficient funds available in your account.

Federal regulations require us to obtain your agreement in order to provide this overdraft payment service on your everyday debit card transactions. If you decide not to enroll in the Overdraft Pay Advantage (OPA) service, your debit card transactions will be declined when you have insufficient funds available in your account.

You may elect to decline or opt into this service using any of these convenient methods:

  • Log in to your account and select Member Services, then Overdraft Pay Advantage
  • Call our Member Service Center at (707) 545-4000 or toll-free 1 (800) 479-7928.
  • Visit any RCU branch location and speak with a team member.

For additional information and terms, please read our Overdraft Pay Advantage FAQs.

Overdraft Pay Advantage can be used to pay your checks, automatic bill payments (such as Automatic Clearing House or recurring debit card transactions), and your everyday debit card transactions. When the service is used, an Overdraft Pay Advantage fee is charged (up to the maximum 4 charges per day). After a transaction is paid, you’ll be asked to make a deposit to cover the negative balance in your account immediately, and no later than within 20 days. If your account is not in good standing or you have not made regular deposits into your account, we may not be able to extend Overdraft Pay Advantage services to pay your transaction.

We will use the available balance and not your actual balance to determine if you have sufficient funds to cover your transactions.

Redwood Credit Union offers Members valuable products and services with no or low fees. For select products and services, some fees are assessed as a cost recovery. See our Cost Recovery Schedules for Personal Accounts and Business Accounts for details.
