FAQs About "Heartbleed Bug" Security Info

Please Note: RCU's website, ATMs, online & mobile banking remain secure and unaffected by the Heartbleed Bug. Following is additional information about the Heartbleed security bug.

Q: What is the Heartbleed Bug?

A: The Heartbleed Bug being reported on in the media is an Internet security flaw  that has the potential to compromise information such as usernames, passwords and web page content. It allows attackers to eavesdrop on communications, steal data directly from the services and users and to impersonate services and users. SSL provides communication security and privacy over the Internet for applications such as web and email. OpenSSL is a variation of SSL that offers more flexibility for developers.
