Equifax Cybersecurity Incident
On September 7, 2017, Equifax, one of the nation's three largest credit reporting agencies, announced a cybersecurity incident notification, reporting that a website vulnerability resulted in unauthorized access to the names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and in some instances driver's license numbers of approximately 143 million consumers between mid-May and July 2017. Equifax has confirmed in a public statement that the issue has been contained.
What you need to know:
- Redwood Credit Union’s website, online banking, and mobile systems remain secure and are not affected by the Equifax incident.
- Equifax reports they have found no evidence of unauthorized activity on their consumer or commercial credit reporting databases.
- To check if your information may have been impacted by this incident, please visit Equifax’s dedicated site at: https://www.equifaxsecurity2017.com/.
- Even if the Equifax site indicates your information doesn’t appear to be impacted, we recommend you be vigilant in reviewing all your account statements and credit reports, and contact us immediately if you find any unauthorized activity on your RCU accounts.

What you can do:
- Monitor your accounts online and on your statements and notify your financial institution(s) immediately if you detect any unauthorized activity.
- Reset account passwords, PIN codes, and other login credentials for financial accounts that may be vulnerable.
