What should I do if I receive notification that my credit or debit card has been compromised?

If you receive notification from a merchant that your card information has been compromised it is important to act quickly to help minimize the risk of fraud on your card. Here’s what to do:

  2. Review your account history – Check online or mobile banking or your statement for unauthorized or unfamiliar transactions.   3. Update your card information – When fraud occurs on a debit or credit card you will be issued a new card with a different card number. Be sure to update any of your recurring bills or online accounts (such as iTunes or Amazon) with your new card number.
  4. Monitor your credit reports – The notification from the merchant should tell you what information was compromised. If your personal information was included, monitor your credit reports and place credit freezes to prevent criminals from fraudulently opening accounts in your name.
