SonicWALL firewall (UTM) appliances, as security devices, do not support UPnP in general. Support has been added for Windows Messenger, which is a widely used UPnP application. UPnP support can be enabled for Windows Messenger by following these steps:

  1. Select FIREWALL > ADVANCED.
  2. Check the option Enable support for Windows Messenger. Select this option to support special SIP messaging used in Windows Messenger on Windows XP.
  3. Click Apply.

Any other UPnP application which works on H.323, SIP, RTSP, as well as any application that requires consistent NAT, is also supported. Support is not available for anything not listed here.
