AAA is one of only two private entities in the U.S. authorized by the U.S. Department of State to issue an IDP.*
 
There are three ways to apply for your IDP: 

In Store
  • Fill out the form
  • Provide 2 passport photos (available at AAA stores – FREE for premier Members)
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license
  • $20 permit fee (cash, credit card, check, or money order)
  • Visit our store locator
 Online
  • Visit https://www.aaa-idp.com/
  • Place your order and choose the service and shipping that best suit your needs
    • $20 application fee, $10.99 passport photo cost, and additional return shipping fees apply
  • Complete Online Wizard – you will be directed to our partner govWorks to complete your application, submit passport-type photos, and upload a front/back image of your driver’s license
  • E-sign & submit your application. 
  • Allow 5 business days for processing + additional return shipping time.  *The IDP is a physical booklet and will be shipped to you.
Via Mail
  • Fill out the form
  • Provide 2 passport photos (available at AAA stores – FREE for premier Members)
  • A copy of the front and back of your valid U.S. driver’s license
  • $20 permit fee (check or money order, NO CASH)
  • Mail all necessary forms and photos/license images to your local AAA office
  • Visit our store locator

Please be advised that International Driving Permits may not be issued more than six (6) months in advance of the desired effective date.
