Non-Sufficient Funds fees are charged to your account if an item is presented for payment and you do not have enough funds in the account to pay the item. There are two types of fees:

  1. Overdraft Privelege - this occurs when you do not have enough funds in your account, but the item is paid. A fee will be assessed for taking the account to a negative status.
  2. Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) - this occurs when you do not have enought funds in your account and the item is returned. An NSF Return Fee will be assessed and you may have fees charged by the merchant that presented the item for payment.
There several ways to avoid NSF fees.
  1. Keep track of the balance in your account and what you are spending. You can review your account via Its Me 247 Online or Mobile Banking or set up e-alerts to get warnings when your account reaches a certain balance. Don't forget about recurring payments that may be presented against your account.
  2. Set up your additional savings accounts or your Personal Line of Credit as overdraft protection. If you don't have enough funds in your checking account, we will automatically transfer funds from your other accounts or PLC for a small fee.
