When you use your debit card to make reservations or purchases, you have actually committed those funds to the merchant. If the merchant does not submit a charge to your account within three business days, the hold is cancelled and the funds become available again. Since reservations are often made in advance, the charge may not post to your account until the date of the reservation. Be sure to have funds available in your account at that time.
