If you are under 18, the state requires 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. You will take three 2-hour lessons. Although drivers over 18 are not required by the state to take behind-the-wheel lessons, they are still encouraged to take the three 2-hour lessons. Additional parking lessons and refresher lessons are available as well.

Yes. First thing we need is a Letter of Completion from where you took your 30 hours of classroom. Email the Letter of Completion to drivingschool@aaaminneapolis.com and we will send you a link to enroll. After enrollment, we will activate the account and you will get a link to enroll for the lessons. We will also create an electronic blue card and you will be able to take the permit test if needed.

If you’re under 18, you will need: A valid permit Your social security number Email from state confirming (Electronic White Card) A proper functioning vehicle (see pages 7-9 in Minnesota Driver’s Manual) Valid proof of insurance Supervised driving log Parent Night Certificate (if you have not logged 40 hours of supervised driving) Payment Also, you will need to have held permit for 6 months without any moving violations or alcohol/substance violations and a parent/guardian signature.

In order for us to make adequate progress during the lesson, it is important the driver has practiced and is fully prepared. If the driver does not feel ready for the lesson, you can cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) in advance of the lesson start time by contacting us at 952-927-2602 or accessing the online student portal .

After each lesson, the instructor will fill out an evaluation and the student will fill out a rubric. These will be discussed, and an e-mail will be sent with a breakdown of what was completed and what should be practiced in preparation for the next lesson.

When you drive, you must have your instructional permit in immediate possession. It is illegal to practice driving without a valid instruction permit, therefore we cannot honor a lesson without a valid permit. You can get a duplicate permit at any license center with proper identification and a parent/guardian. We require a 48-hour (excluding weekends and holidays) advance notice for cancellations.
