To restrict file types from being shared with the organization

Required Roles: File Editor and File Type Restriction Editor

File restrictions for the Organization are set in the Administration Console File Library page.
  • Sign in to the Administration Console for the Organization
  • Click "File Library" from the left navigation menu
  • On the File Library page, click the File Restrictions tab
  • Check the boxes of the file types you want to restrict from being shared with your organization
    • Standard File Types - Executable, Macro, Office, Script, Zip
      • For the Standard File Types click on the action icon to the left to show all the available extensions in that category
    • Custom File Types - type custom extension restrictions in the text box
      • Do not enter a period before the extension name (type abc in the text box instead of .abc as an example)
      • Entering an asterisk (*) in the custom extension text box will restrict all file extensions
      • After typing the custom extension restriction select enter/return to make sure it appears in the text box before clicking update
  • Once all restrictions have been checked and/or entered click "Update".  The selected file types will be prevented from reaching the organization via an internal exchange or upload to a share link created in the organization digital collaboration vault (if applicable).

Here is a view of the File Restriction Page with:
  • All Standard Type extensions restricted EXCEPT for Office File Types
  • Additional Custom Type extensions entered that will also be restricted (jpg, txt)
